Salinas BWA News for February 2019

The SBWA would like to thank Toban 1’s chairpersons Carol Cisneros and Tamiko Oishi for leading their committee members at the temple’s New Year’s Party on Sunday, January 20, 2019. We appreciate committee members: Hisako Dairokuno, Chieko Eitoku, Kahori Kuramura, Kiyoko Uchida, Joni Yamaguchi, Helen Yamashita, Irene Yonemitsu, and Bonnie Yokota for preparing tea, setting up the potluck table for the luncheon and for clean-up of the kitchen afterwards. 

The SBWA also thanks Dharma School Teachers Laura Lee and Irene Vargas for their work in being teachers at our Dharma School. We presented both teachers with orei as a token of our appreciation for teaching our young students at the party. 

We want to thank the Dharma School parents and students for cutting and serving the cake at the New Year’s Party. 

On January 24, 2019 at the CD Council Meeting hosted by BTS, Toban 2 prepared a pasta dinner for the attendees. We thank Co-Chairs June Aoki and Cynthia Tsukamoto and fellow members: Linda Miyazaki, Kay Morishita, Atsuko Yamaguchi and Sachiko Yokota for their help with the dinner. 

Tri-Temple Hoonko Service in Watsonville on Sunday, January 27, 2019. Salinas is in charge of providing salads for the luncheon. 

Registration is open for the World Buddhist Women’s Conference and deadline is January 31, 2019. Currently 16 BWA members, 6 temple members and Rev. Fujita are attending. 

Our next SBWA meeting is scheduled for Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the temple.
